“Making material visible and audible” — in line with this motto, design students from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences investigated the acoustic and visual properties of a wide variety of materials in parallel. The aim was to develop individual sound machines that were brought together to form an interactive orchestra as part of the Dortmund Podest exhibition. The exhibits were controllable via an interface so that visitors were able to become the conductors of a multi-sensory spatial experience.
